Wamalloy Engineering College is one of the premier FET colleges in Pretoria, that is established with the aim of offering professional education in different N courses of N4-N6 fields of engineering. This recognized FET college is one of the best engineering colleges in Pretoria. Wamalloy Engineering College is specialized in offering N4-N6 engineering courses and National N-Diploma in Engineering.
The college also offers N courses in N4-N6 in Business Management and N courses in N4-N6 FET in Human Resource Management.
Wamalloy Engineering College, one of the top FET Colleges in Pretoria, South Africa, provides a strong management curriculum. Our department offers N4-N6 in Business Management courses and National N-Diploma in Business Mangement and N4-N6 in Human Resource management courses and National N-Diploma in Human Resource Management for all the aspiring candidates. The institution offers a variety of options for the students to pursue their interest.
With well qualified and experienced faculty members, the FET institution produces world-class technology graduates with high knowledge. The vision of Wamalloy Engineering College is to be the top provider in offering FET engineering courses. Special workshops and group discussions are conducted to help the N course students to develop a number of skills like leadership, time management, motivation , coordination and direction.
The college offers Theoretical portions in N4-N6 engineering leading to the National Diploma in Engineering. Courses comprise of three trimesters in which the student has to study a minimum of 12 subjects (N4 - N6) and pass with a minimum of 40 percent marks in each of the subject. The N course subject selection must be within the mathematics, engineering science , supervisory management , electrical and mechanical engineering group. Electrical students should opt for more electrical engineering N course subjects and Mechanical students should opt for more mechanical engineering N Course FET subjects.
Candidates are offered N1, N2 and N3 in Millwright, Boilermaking, Welding and Electrical. Students who have completed grade 9 are eligible to join N1 and pursue their career with us until N6.
Certificates of passing for each subject of N4 - N6 will be issued by the dept of higher education and the final diploma in engineering will be issued only after the student completes two years of working experience in the relevant engineering field and produces certificate to that effect.
After completion of the required FET N4-N6 subjects the students will have to make their own arrangements for placements for the required experience in order to get the national diploma. The college will, however, try /help/guide the student towards obtaining the above experience.
The college offers N courses theoretical portions of N4-N6 subjects leading to writing GCC government certificate of competency ( engineering ). The student must complete 18 subjects of N4-N6 engineering ( 5 trimesters in case the student pass all the subjects in the first attempt ) as shown in the ROUTE TO NATIONAL N DIPLOMA AND GCC MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING The student, in addition, must get a minimum of 50 percent marks in each and every N Course subject passed as against 40 percent marks prescribed for national N diploma.
In addition to passing the 18 subjects of N4-N6, the following additional requirements are to be met:
Student must undergo the two years of working experience from registered companies /mines in South Africa.
The student must have completed 25 years of age.
The GCC subjects that is plant engineering, legal engineering ,occupational health and safety and labor laws must be done by the students privately on their own or at any other institution that teaches the GCC subjects.
Upon successful passing of the GCC subjects, the GCC ( mechanical or electrical ) certificates will be issued by the dept.
Students who are interested in getting both mechanical and electrical GCC must have passed three extra subjects on top of the 18 N Course( N4-N6 ) subjects required for GCC and must have had the required two years experience in the other field.
The student will have to make their own arrangements for placements for the required experience and study of the GCC subjects ( plant engg , legal engg , occupational health and safety and labor laws ) either on their own or at another institution offering these courses as at wamalloy engineering college we do not offer these classes neither can we give experience required.
The explanation of GCC is given for general information to prospective students that there is such a course available in the dept and also because wamalloy teaches all the necessary gcc oriented 18 N Course FET subjects of N4-N6 in engineering which is one of the base for writing the GCC examination.
Wamalloy engineering college will, however, guide the students in their experience and gcc study once they have passed all the required N Course subjects of FET N4-N6 engineering subjects.
The FET routing to go through to GCC (Government Certificate of Competency -- Engineers Certificate of Competency in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering) either through National N Diploma or direct to GCC, is theoretically a much easier route / course, but it includes experience elements of various types in the process. Hence for students who have not succeeded in the regular engineering degree courses who we believe would have got a good M score to get into the university will definitely do well and easily go through the FET routing; more because there is no limit in rewriting the subjects.
Here in FET routing most of the engineering subjects are condensed and you start from the formulas and the formula sheets are provided at the examination hall. Unlike in the engineering degree course, the theoretical portion as to how the formula was derived is absent. This is because this course is more practical oriented as an engineer or engineering supervisor while he is working is normally expected to select and use the right formulas for design or selection of equipments or for any other engineering purposes and derivation of the formula does not come into his/her working life .
This incidentally will be a blessing in disguise for the drop out engineering degree candidates as their theoretical portion of study is very much simplified.
GCC engineering certificate holders are well placed in the industry as the studies in addition to engineering, relates plant engineering, (mining and factories) occupational health and safety and legal engineering, and detailed experience in various departments in the mines and industries. They are normally placed at much higher grades than the engineering degree holders because of their broader knowledge and experience built in the study. GCC factory /Mines are always in very high demand in this country and are very well paid with prospects of rising to the top of the organisation.
Hence a force/push into this course because the student is dropped off from the regular engineering degree course is definitely a blessing in disguise, except that the student after joining this FET routing course must be serious and devote time for his/her studies and gaining knowledge through experience.
Coming to the worst the student can always stop at National N Diploma level ( 12 subjects at min of 40 % marks in each subject ), work as long as he wants and then do the necessary further studies for GCC provided the student procured 50% marks in the subjects he/she has passed ( In the event the student has passed with scores less than 50% in any subject, he/she can rewrite the same subject to get 50 % or more marks in order to go to GCC . This National Diploma will only take one year (three trimesters) of study at Wamalloy Engg College and then two years of experience in any industry connected with the studies. But it is advisable that all FET subjects required for GCC be studied in one go without a gap which will take about two years to complete the required +/- 18 subjects ( at a min of 50 % marks in each subject )
The student will have to make their own arrangements for placements for the required experience and study of the GCC subjects ( plant engg , legal engg , occupational health and safety and labor laws ) either on their own or at another institution offering these courses..... as at wamalloy engineering college we do not offer these classes neither can we give experience required.
The explanation of GCC is given for general information to prospective students that there is such a course available in the dept and also because wamalloy teaches all the necessary gcc oriented 18 subjects of n4-n6 in engineering which is one of the base for writing the GCC examination.
Wamalloy engineering college will, however, guide the students in their experience and gcc study once they have passed all the required N4-N6 engineering subjects.
